Do you have use for a Machine Gun around here?

Posted on October 21st, 2009 in Marketing | No Comments »

Then perhaps you just need a great ebook!

The opening line is by Elmer Wheeler - considered America’s Greatest Salesman. Millions follow his teachings and have seen infinite success just by putting his advice in place.

Now imagine if you were an Internet Marketer and you could do the same?

Well, now  you can!

I’ve been an affiliate marketer for some time now, and have recently had the pleasure of reviewing ‘Canned Genius: Internet Marketing’. It’s a product which left me completely amazed at some things I had been missing all along.

Canned Genius: Internet Marketing came about after an investigation into scams online. The author, Susan Black, was dismayed by how many people were getting blatantly ripped off, but then she stumbled across a group of people whose backgrounds checked out and were actually selling good services to the public.

She befriended them and then interviewed them about their success, how they really did it, what the key things were that made them join the big leagues and what their biggest recommendations are for others who want to succeed online.

The book is a series of 8 interviews with these successful people, including Andrew Hansen, Colleen Slater and Tristan Bull to name a few.

Its an eye opener and is certainly a great read for anyone in the Internet Marketing business, as these people give an honest and truthful account of their success.

Canned Genius is a highly recommendable product, I really enjoyed reading about the real ways to be successful without all the sales pitch blurb. I also liked that all the contributors offered a free product of their own, some offered advice or a special report just for purchasers of the book.

Social Networking Websites: Who Is Reading Your Personal Information?

Posted on October 21st, 2009 in Social Marketing | No Comments »

Social Networking Websites: Who Is Reading Your Personal Information?

It is estimated that each day, a fairly large number of individuals make the decision to join a social networking website. Social networking websites are websites that allow internet users to easily connect with other internet users, often from all around the world. While social networking websites are a great way to make online friends or start an online relationship, there are many internet users who are misinformed when it comes to social networking websites. That misinformation is largely centered on who can see their personal information.

Since a social networking website is often compared to a community, you would assume that only other community members would be able to read your personal information, right? In the real world, an unknown individual cannot just decide that they want to move into your neighborhood and live in your front yard, spying on your every move, so why should it happen online? If that is your way of thinking, you are wrong, in most cases. Unfortunately, many internet users are largely unaware of the fact that just about anyone can view their social networking profiles, including non-community members.

As previously mentioned, there are a large number of social networking websites that allow anyone one with internet access to view the profiles or profile pages of their members. In fact, the number is higher than you may have ever imagined. At the current time, just a few popular of the social networking websites that allow any internet user to view your profile include Yahoo! 360, FriendFinder, FriendWise, and MySpace. With a simple click of the mouse, information that you thought was private is no longer. That is why it is important that you examine what is actually posted in your profile or on your personal profile page before publishing it.

Although being cautious may take away from the fun of joining a social networking program, you are advised to be cautious. This cautiousness may help keep you safe. When building your social networking profile or profile page, especially on a website that anyone can view, you are advised to carefully select the pictures that you post. If you post a personal picture of your self, you are advised against posting your full name and, especially, your address. With a picture, your full name, and your address, an internet user with devious thoughts could spell trouble.

If you are one of the many social network users who wants to display your information, you are encouraged to learn more about private profile settings. Private profile settings will limit the number of individuals who can view your website. Although your profile’s private setting may prevent other network members from seeing your profile, it will also prevent anyone else from seeing it. The only catch with doing this is that since other community members cannot see your profile, you will have to be the one to contact with any new friends that you would like to invite to your network.

In addition to joining a social networking website that allows you to set your profile as private, you can join a network that automatically has profiles set as private. These social networking websites include, but are not limited to, Orkut and Facebook. With Orkut and Facebook, your profile will only be seen by other members. In fact, Facebook also limits the members that can see your profile. This is done to help ensure your safety online. However, as with all other social networking websites, it is fairly easy for you to make online connections and friends, but, in away, these private profile networking sites are a safer way to make those connections.

Now that you know exactly how social networking websites work and who can gain access to your personal information, you should know what you should and should not put in your profile or on your profile page. Although you are not required to change your information, you should at least think about it. As the old saying goes, you never know who is watching you.

Why You NEED To Update Your CMS Software

Posted on October 21st, 2009 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Those of us who use, create, or manage websites with content management systems are sometimes annoyed when new versions are released because of the pesky update messages and the implied need to update. And although updates are generally not too difficult, they do necessitate additional time and worry as add-on plugins or custom code is verified for compatibility.

And while many people do opt to continue using their existing versions — often due to price, time, or fear of the unknown — there are two BIG reasons why an upgrade is important.

Security

First and foremost, security is the main reason for upgrades. As time passes or languages (such as PHP or ASP) change, software may become vulnerable to malicious attackers. Or, as in the case of the recent WordPress release, a potential method for attack was discovered.

What’s the worst that can happen?

Many people who run relatively small and obscure websites doubt that they could be victim of an attack. However, given that many attacks are automated, just being on the web makes you vulnerable. That being said, some potential things that your attacker could do include:

  • deleting all content
  • defacing the site by posting questionable and offensive material
  • spamming the site with links
  • changing passwords to block you from accessing the admin area

By updating your CMS, you will have the most secure version of the software, minimizing the possibility of any hacking.

Features and Efficiency

Another great thing about upgrades is that they often contain more efficient code and features. This may help to save you time as you manage your website. But even better, the efficient code may enable your website to run faster while putting less strain on your web server and help you to minimize bandwidth. Perhaps this isn’t an issue now, but as your website grows, you will see why efficiency is extremely important.

Upgrading your website may necessitate time or money. However, it will be worth it in terms of security and efficiency. And while you may be perfectly content with the features of your current version, the new versions might have some additional features that you and your visitors will appreciate.

Blogging Is The Business Model for your Bloggers Payback

Posted on October 20th, 2009 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Blogging is, for all intents and purposes, such an adaptable system that it can be used for a wide range of applications - not the least of which being in marketing.

But you should realize that there is a vast difference between using a blog to market a single product, and turning a blog into a full fledged<a target=”_blank” href=”http://www.problogger.net/archives/2009/05/10/why-you-need-a-blogging-business-model/”> business model</a>. Depending on your prior experience, you may find that this is quite easy to do - however, the majority of online marketers (especially beginners) would not.

Anyway, the trick to turning your blog into an actual online business is to look at it from multiple angles and ensure that each and every aspect of your blog is properly sorted out to perfection. If you wish to do that, these are the areas that you should be glancing over:

1. Traffic

More traffic means more potential customers, which means more possible sales. As such, traffic is without a doubt the first thing that you need to be concerned about - it’s what will sustain your business. Fortunately, blogs are great traffic magnets, so as long as you’re posting regular (and valuable!) content as well as pursuing other traffic generation means, you should have few problems.

2. Niche Research<

Almost all the blogs run by beginners end up being ‘niche interest’ sites. To take this a step further, you need to firmly distance yourself from that image and start to become a ‘niche authority’. For this to happen, you’ll really have to know your niche inside out - and that means research. Course, there are many ways in which you could carry out this research, and honestly the best way is to simply talk to people in your niche.

By figuring out the problems, needs, and desires of the people within your niche, you’ll then be able to cater your blog specifically to them, and that will slowly but surely transform your blog into an authority on the matter. Other things, such as having your own product line, also help - but that’s a different story altogether!

3. Product Line

Marketers market products. Businesses create and then market products. Having your own product lines </a>is not just profitable, but it will also boost your image and authority (as we mentioned just a minute ago!). Multiple product lines will allow you a lot of other options too, such as leveraging, which will undoubtedly help.

4. Business Plan

End of the day, the final discerning characteristic of a business is that you need to have a business plan. Everything that we’ve talked about so far must be planned out and linked together - along with other things too. Basically, you need to know where you’re going to get your potential customers (i.e. traffic), what you’re going to market to them, how you’re going to market to them, and how you’re going to continue marketing to them by list building.

Take into account all of this, and you should be able to profit from your blog as a full fledged business model, and maybe even earn thousands and thousands of dollars a month like the true professionals do!

If you’re tired of barely scrapping by and are ready to finally make some money online with blogging, you need to check out Bloggers Payback:

Steps on How to Create a Blog - Discover the steps to create a blog

Posted on October 18th, 2009 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Steps on How To Create a Blog:

Blogs are now very popular and there is no question that even very young people have blogs. But how do you create a blog?

First off, you need to find a blog provider that will suit your needs. These can be free but if you do not know how to use HTML, you have to either make do with the available designs or templates for the web pages or search for other providers.

If you want other features like music or videos in your blog, you may have to pay extra as these features eat up bandwidth and providers only offer free services for the basic ones.

How to create a blog is no daunting task, there is no need to have knowledge regarding hypertext markup language or HTML since many blog sites or hosts have designed their services to be very user friendly.

The next step to create a blog is that you have to try to identify who you are. How your blog will look will say a lot about you as a person.

Girls often use pink and other light colors for their blog page backgrounds. Serious types have dark colors and hues. Others prefer animation. This will really depend on your personality type.

Now you can go ahead and design your blog page or blog site. If you have basic knowledge on HTML, you can use this knowledge to add life to your blog site such as moving words or moving animation figures.

After this, you need to register a domain name that will identify the blog site as you. Although this is fully optional but is still highly recommended.

There are a lot of websites that offer free registration of domain names as long as the domain name is available. Once this is done, you can start blogging and publishing your thoughts everyday.
